My name is Meaghan Trudgett and I am a registered Psychologist. I commenced my internship as a provisional psychologist in 2013. I engaged in 3080 hours of supervised practice in assessment, case formulation, treatment planning and intervention over the course of 3 years, gaining full registration in 2016. I am currently undertaking further study, completing my Masters of Clinical Psychology through Charles Sturt University. I am due to graduate in 2021. I have a keen interest in ongoing professional development and learning, the education and training that i have engaged in thus far helps to provide a competent, well informed and evidence based practice to the Clients i work with.

 

I started my career working in a residential rehabilitation Centre for Juvenile Offenders. I particularly enjoy working with adolescents, and have since acquired experience in both government and non-government agencies working with children, adolescents and their families with a diverse range of emotional and behavioural presentations such as Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Harmful Sexual Behaviour, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder to name a few. I am committed to effective and clinically competent therapeutic work with disadvantaged youth in particular, to try and help them change their trajectory and access the services they need to reach their potential as adults. 


I am also passionate about Forensic Mental Health. I have worked in Correctional Centres, Community Corrections and completed placement in a Forensic Hospital. I have

 

I have completed Lifeline’s Volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporter training, developing core counselling skills to respond appropriately to individual’s experiencing emotional distress and provide client centred support. I have delivered counselling and intervention in an individual and group context, providing psycho education, utilizing core counselling skills, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Motivational Interviewing techniques. I am excited to learn, practice and gain experience in other treatment modalities, under the supervision of an experienced Clinical Psychologist, as I complete my fourth and final Masters Placement at Distinct Directions.


I have always lived and worked in Rural New South Wales, I am passionate about providing much needed mental health services in our community particularly to our most vulnerable community members. Working in Western New South Wales, I am passionate about providing culturally competent psychological services to Aboriginal Australians, and improve mental health outcomes.
